Enhancing Well-being Through Nature Journaling

Nature journaling enhances one’s overall well-being and happiness. Engaging in activities like observing, sketching, and documenting nature fosters positive effects on mental, emotional, and physical health.

Since I was young, I’ve enjoyed drawing nature, but it wasn’t until I joined a Nature Journaling workshop in 2017 that I learned how to add depth to my drawings and discovered there was a name for what I had been doing.

Since attending the workshop, my interest in nature journaling has grown, leading me to browse community bookstores in search of nature journaling books. I was fortunate to discover several excellent titles, including “The Nature Notes of an Edwardian Lady,” “Janet Marsh’s Nature Diary,” and “A Countrywoman’s Journal.”

Nature journaling isn’t just about drawing; it’s about capturing the essence of what you observe. It involves describing not only the subject itself but also the ambient sounds, the scents in the air, the feeling of the environment, and the emotions felt in that moment. I still have much to explore, both in nature and in nature journaling itself.

Whether sketching in my backyard, at the park, or in a botanical garden, Nature Journaling deepens my connection with the natural world and enhances my mental well-being. Each drawing is a journey that enriches my appreciation for nature, bringing a profound sense of peace and clarity to my mind.
